Sydney is known as the Harbour City. It is the largest, oldest and most cosmopolitan city in Australia with an enviable reputation as one of the world's most beautiful and liveable cities. Brimming with history, nature, culture, art, fashion, cuisine, and design, Sydney is set next to miles of ocean coastline and sandy, surf beaches. Longterm immigration has led to the city's reputation as one of the most culturally and ethnically diverse cities in Australia and the world. Sydney is also home to the Sydney Opera House and the Sydney Harbour Bridge, two of the most iconic structures on the planet.
According to the 2011 census, 61 percent of citizens consider themselves Christian while 22.3 percent report having no religious affiliation. Buddhists constitute 2.5 percent of the population, Muslims 2.2 percent, Hindus 1.3 percent, and Jews 0.5 percent.
